Howie Heard a Busker Outside… and Pulled Her Straight Onto Canada’s Got Talent

Sometimes the most unforgettable auditions don’t start in a waiting room — they start out on the street. That’s exactly what happened when Samantha “Meave” Pearson, a busker from Niagara Falls, Ontario, was singing outside the Canada’s Got Talent venue and caught Howie Mandel’s attention. Instead of letting her walk away, he invited her inside for a real audition.

What made the moment so special was how unexpected it was. Meave wasn’t lined up like the other contestants. She was just out there doing what she does — singing for passersby and trying to be heard. In the audition, she performed her original song “Pretty Baby,” turning a chance encounter into the kind of once-in-a-lifetime opportunity every street performer dreams about.

The performance clearly hit home. Meave went on to become one of the notable singers from Canada’s Got Talent Season 3, and later reports noted that she reached the finals after that surprise discovery outside the venue. What started as a sidewalk performance became national exposure — proof that sometimes talent really is hiding in plain sight, just waiting for the right person to stop and listen.
